Gimhae Airport to Haeundae or Seomyeon, Then On to Seoul: Flying into Busan with Luggage
To get from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae, take the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail to Sasang and Busan Metro Line 2 (about 1 hour 10 minutes or more, around ₩1,600–1,800 with a transit card), the airport limousine bus (₩9,500, card only, 07:10–21:40), or a taxi (about 70 minutes, according to the airport). Seomyeon is closer: about 45 minutes by taxi, or a ₩6,000 limousine bus. If Seoul and Incheon Airport come next, your suitcases can travel hotel to hotel while you ride the KTX with a daypack.
Key takeaways
- No train runs straight from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae. Rail means the light rail to Sasang, then subway Line 2, which also stops at Seomyeon.
- The airport limousine buses leave from stop 3 on the ground floor of both terminals: ₩6,000 to Seomyeon and Bujeon, ₩9,500 to Haeundae and Gijang. Cash isn't accepted.
- Gimhae Airport's own taxi estimates are about 45 minutes to Seomyeon and about 70 minutes to Haeundae, depending on traffic.
- Haeundae is a beach resort on the east side of the city; Seomyeon is the central shopping and transport hub, about 15 minutes from Busan Station's KTX platforms.
- Flying into Busan and out of Seoul saves backtracking: the KTX from Busan to Seoul costs ₩54,400 in standard class after the September 2026 rail merger.
How to get from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae or Seomyeon
There are three practical ways from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae or Seomyeon: light rail plus subway, the airport limousine bus, and a taxi. With one carry-on, rail is cheapest; with two big suitcases, the bus or a taxi saves you the transfers.
| Option | To Seomyeon | To Haeundae | Adult fare | With large luggage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light rail + subway Line 2 | About 40 min, one change at Sasang | About 1 hr 10 min or more, one change at Sasang | About ₩1,600–1,800 with a transit card | Long transfer walk at Sasang; trains get crowded at rush hour |
| Airport limousine bus | Seomyeon/Bujeon line, 12 departures a day | Haeundae/Gijang line, 21 departures a day | ₩6,000 / ₩9,500, card only | Suitcases go under the bus; no changes |
| Taxi | About 45 min | About 70 min | Metered; airport estimates about ₩18,000 / ₩25,000 | Door to door; deluxe taxis cost more |
Light rail and subway: cheapest, but you change at Sasang
The Busan-Gimhae Light Rail stops right outside the domestic and international terminals and reaches Sasang, where it meets Busan Metro Line 2, in about 7 minutes. Line 2 then runs through Seomyeon to Haeundae, so it's one change either way. According to Busan-Gimhae Light Rail, an adult ride costs ₩1,600–1,800 with a transit card (₩1,700–1,900 for a single ticket), and if you transfer within 30 minutes you only pay the highest fare of the modes you used, not both. The catch is Sasang: the light rail is elevated, Line 2 is underground, and the walk between them is long.
Trains leave the airport from about 05:30 until just after midnight, but the last Line 2 train towards Haeundae (Jangsan) leaves Sasang at about 23:45. For Gwangalli or Suyeong you can also change at Daejeo to Line 3.

Airport limousine bus: one seat, suitcases underneath
With big suitcases, the limousine bus is simplest: you board once and your bags ride in the hold. According to Gimhae International Airport, both lines leave from stop 3 on the ground floor of the international and domestic terminals, and fares are card only.
- Seomyeon/Bujeon line (₩6,000): 12 departures a day from the international terminal, 07:20–21:30, stopping at Jurye, Dong-eui University, Seomyeon Station (Lotte Department Store) and Bujeon Market.
- Haeundae/Gijang line (₩9,500): 07:10–21:40, via Namcheon-dong, Centum City, BEXCO, the yacht centre, Haeundae Beach and Jangsan Station; some departures continue to the Gijang resorts.
The airport doesn't publish journey times; allow well over an hour for Haeundae in traffic.
Taxi: door to door, priced by traffic
A taxi is the easiest way to a Haeundae or Seomyeon hotel with luggage. The airport's estimates for a regular taxi are about 45 minutes and ₩18,000 to Seomyeon, and about 70 minutes and ₩25,000 to Haeundae; the meter decides, with a late-night surcharge from 23:00 to 04:00. Deluxe (mobeom) taxis cost more: the airport estimates about ₩32,400 to Seomyeon and ₩45,000 to Haeundae.
Haeundae or Seomyeon: where should you stay before heading to Seoul?
Stay in Haeundae for the beach; stay in Seomyeon to be central and close to the KTX. Both work, but the morning you leave for Seoul is easier from Seomyeon or Busan Station.
| Area | Best for | To Busan Station (KTX) | From Gimhae Airport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haeundae | Beach, sea views, Dongbaek Island, Blueline Park | About 1 hour by subway, changing at Seomyeon | Limousine bus ₩9,500 or about 70 min by taxi |
| Seomyeon | Shopping, food streets, nightlife, central location | About 15 minutes on Line 1 | Limousine bus ₩6,000 or about 45 min by taxi |
| Busan Station / Nampo | Early KTX, Jagalchi Market, Gamcheon Village | On the doorstep | Light rail and subway with two changes, or a taxi |

Haeundae: the beach, but further from the KTX
Haeundae is where most first-time visitors picture Busan: a long sandy beach backed by towers, with Dongbaek Island and the coastal walk at one end. It's about an hour from Busan Station by subway, which matters on the day you leave for Seoul; a few KTX-Eum trains to Seoul do stop at nearby Sinhaeundae (see the FAQ).

Seomyeon: central, and close to the KTX
Seomyeon is Busan's downtown, with department stores, underground arcades and food streets where Lines 1 and 2 cross. From here, Busan Station is about 15 minutes on Line 1, and Gwangalli and Haeundae are about 20–35 minutes away on Line 2. Seomyeon Station is large and busy, so allow time to find a lift if you're moving with suitcases.
Fly into Busan, out of Seoul: a sample 7-day plan with luggage
An open-jaw ticket, into Gimhae and home from Incheon, lets you travel Korea in one direction without backtracking. Gimhae's international flights are mostly within Asia, so travellers from Europe and North America usually connect via another Asian hub. Some international tickets include a transit-only flight from Incheon, in which case you normally clear immigration and collect your bags in Busan; check with your airline.
| Day | Where you go | What happens to your luggage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Land at Gimhae, check in to Haeundae or Seomyeon | Hand it over at the airport, or take it with you by bus or taxi |
| 2–3 | Busan: Haeundae, Gamcheon, Jagalchi, Gwangalli | Stays at the hotel |
| 4 | KTX to Seoul, sightseeing on the way or on arrival | Leaves the Busan hotel in the morning, reaches the Seoul hotel that evening |
| 5–6 | Seoul | Stays at the hotel |
| 7 | Fly home from Incheon | Goes from the Seoul hotel to Incheon Airport ahead of you |

On day 4, take the KTX from Busan Station to Seoul Station (about 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours, ₩54,400 standard class). Since the KTX–SRT merger on 1 September 2026, the former SRT trains to Suseo in southern Seoul are also sold as KTX on Korail; pick Suseo if your Seoul hotel is in Gangnam. On day 7, the AREX Express runs from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport in 43 minutes (Terminal 1) or 51 minutes (Terminal 2) for ₩13,000, and Incheon recommends arriving 3 hours before an international flight.

Gimhae Airport to Haeundae luggage delivery: one handover, then hotel to hotel all the way to Incheon
Gimhae Airport to Haeundae luggage delivery means handing your suitcases over in the arrivals hall, collecting them at your Busan hotel, then sending them on to Seoul and Incheon the same way. On public transport the hard parts are the Sasang transfer, the KTX luggage space and the Seomyeon transfer. Korail allows each passenger up to two items that don't take up a seat or block the aisle; big suitcases go in the luggage space at the end of each car, first come, first served.
LuggAgent covers all three legs of this trip. At Gimhae, meet our agent at the international terminal arrivals meeting point after you land (if you arrive on a domestic flight from Gimpo, meet us at the same international terminal meeting point and allow extra time to move between the terminals); airport handover slots currently run from 09:00 to 18:00, and bags reach your Busan hotel by 21:00 the same day (by 18:00 with priority delivery). Within Busan, pickup to delivery takes at least 3 hours; Busan to Seoul needs at least 9 hours, so you choose a pickup time between 09:00 and 11:00 when booking, leave your bags at the hotel front desk before then and send a photo to customer support (no need to wait for the driver), and find them at your Seoul hotel that evening.
If you're heading straight from Gimhae Airport to a hotel in Haeundae or Seomyeon, hand your bags over at the airport and travel light:
On the morning you leave for Seoul, leave your bags at the Busan hotel front desk and take the KTX with just a daypack:
On your last day, your bags go from the Seoul hotel to Incheon Airport; we recommend choosing a delivery time at least 2 hours before your flight departs:
How it works:
- Book online: most services need to be booked at least 24–72 hours in advance; the exact cutoff is shown on the booking page (if you're picked up at an Airbnb or guesthouse, meet the driver in person at your chosen 09:00–11:00 pickup time with your bags; if your bags are delivered to one, send the full address and entry details by 13:00 local time on the service day, and you don't need to be there).
- At Gimhae, choose a handover time at least 1 hour after your scheduled landing, to allow for immigration and baggage claim.
- Hand your bags to the agent at the arrivals meeting point, or to your hotel front desk on later legs, and send a photo.
- You're notified at pickup and delivery, and the agent photographs your bags at both ends.
Each bag can be up to 180 cm (length + width + height) and 32 kg; large items such as golf bags can be up to 250 cm and 25 kg. For Busan coverage see Busan luggage delivery; for the intercity leg see Seoul to Busan luggage delivery.
FAQ
How long does it take from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae?
About 70 minutes by taxi, according to the airport's estimate, and about 1 hour 10 minutes or more by light rail and subway Line 2 with a change at Sasang. The limousine bus has no published journey time and depends on traffic along the coast.
Is there a direct train from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae?
No. Take the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail to Sasang (about 7 minutes) and change to subway Line 2, which runs through Seomyeon to Haeundae. With a transit card the whole trip costs the highest single fare, about ₩1,600–1,800 for an adult, if you transfer within 30 minutes.
Can I pay for the Gimhae Airport limousine bus in cash?
No. The airport says both limousine lines are card only: ₩6,000 to Seomyeon and Bujeon, ₩9,500 to Haeundae and Gijang. Buses leave from stop 3 on the ground floor of the international and domestic terminals.
Is there a train from Haeundae to Seoul?
Yes, but only a few. Since 30 December 2025, KTX-Eum trains between Bujeon and Seoul's Cheongnyangni stop at Sinhaeundae, with four northbound stops a day planned at launch. Most travellers take the more frequent KTX from Busan Station to Seoul Station, about an hour from Haeundae by subway.
What if I land at Gimhae in the evening?
Airport handover for same-day delivery is available until 18:00, so evening arrivals are usually easiest with the limousine bus (last departures around 21:30–21:40) or a taxi. Once you're in your hotel, you can still send the bags on with LuggAgent from there, for example to Seoul on the day you take the KTX.
