Da Nang + Hoi An Luggage Guide: Late-Night Arrival, Switching Hotels, and a Late Flight Home, What to Do With Big Bags?
Da Nang is a top pick for first-time visitors to Vietnam: under 5 hours by air from Incheon, with beaches, Ba Na Hills and Hoi An Ancient Town all within an hour's drive. South Korea is Da Nang's biggest source of international visitors, with about 1.68 million arrivals in 2024.
But once you plan the actual trip, you'll find Da Nang's luggage problems are a bit different from other destinations:
- Flights often land at night: many direct flights from Korea touch down after 9 p.m.
- Most people switch hotels once: a few nights on the Da Nang beachfront, then a few in Hoi An Ancient Town, with a 40–50 minute ride in between, bags in tow.
- The flight home is often late too: you check out at noon, but the plane doesn't leave until midnight, which leaves most of a day in between.
This guide breaks down those three moments and shows the easiest way to handle your bags at each one.
1. Know the Distances: Da Nang Airport, the City, and Hoi An
| From | To | Drive time (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Da Nang Airport (DAD) | Hotels around My Khe Beach | 15–20 minutes |
| Da Nang Airport (DAD) | Hoi An Ancient Town | 40–60 minutes |
| Da Nang city | Hoi An Ancient Town | 40–50 minutes |
- The airport is very close to the city, which is Da Nang's biggest convenience.
- Hoi An is farther out. A one-way Grab car usually costs 250,000–350,000 VND (about US$10–14), and more at peak times. Vietnam has no official fixed airport taxi fare, so check the app's quote before you book.
Drive times and fares are compiled from several travel sites (checked 2026-10-18); the ride-hailing app's quote is what counts.
2. First Night: Landing Late, What About the Bags?
Bottom line: keep your bags with you the first night. No need to send them.
The airport to a beachfront hotel is only 15–20 minutes, so a single Grab gets you there. Also, LUGGAGENT's airport drop-off window is 09:00–18:00, so a flight landing after 9 p.m. isn't suited to same-night drop-off anyway.
The real savings come in the two legs after that.
If you land in the daytime and want to head straight out (say, to Ba Na Hills or My Khe Beach first), you can hand your bags to us at the airport and we'll deliver them to your hotel.
3. Mid-Trip: Moving From Da Nang to a Hoi An Hotel
This is the most hassle in the whole trip.
Doing it yourself: check out in the morning, haul your bags into a car, arrive at your Hoi An hotel where you usually can't check in yet (most allow it after 14:00), leave the bags at the front desk, and only then start exploring. Cobblestones and narrow alleys make dragging a suitcase hard work.
With LUGGAGENT:
- Before 11:00 in the morning, hand your bags to the front desk of your Da Nang hotel.
- Head out with just a daypack. You could stop at Marble Mountains (right on the way, see Section 7) or spend another half day in Da Nang.
- Your bags arrive at the front desk of your Hoi An hotel before 21:00 (to get them sooner, choose delivery before 18:00 for an extra US$35).
- You head to Hoi An in the evening, stroll the night market, and return to a hotel where your bags are already waiting.
Price: Da Nang city → Hoi An US$40 (2 bags), plus US$12 for each additional bag.
4. Last Day: Playing On After Checkout Until a Late Flight
Many flights back to Korea leave in the evening or after midnight. After a noon checkout, you often have 8–10 hours before heading to the airport.
With LUGGAGENT:
- Hand your bags to the hotel front desk before 11:00 in the morning.
- Your bags go straight to Da Nang Airport, and we hand them to you in the time slot you agreed on (at least 120 minutes before takeoff). Airport delivery between 15:00 and 21:00 has no surcharge; after 21:00 is available but costs extra.
- You spend the whole last day traveling light: pick up clothes from your Hoi An tailor, visit An Bang Beach, enjoy one last Vietnamese meal, then collect your bags at the airport in the evening and check in.
Price: Hoi An → Da Nang Airport US$40 (2 bags), plus US$12 for each additional bag; Da Nang city → Da Nang Airport US$30 (2 bags), plus US$11 for each additional bag.

7. A Stop on the Way: Marble Mountains
Marble Mountains sits right on the road from Da Nang city to Hoi An. It has caves and temples, and you can take an elevator up.
Most people ride past without stopping, because you can't climb a mountain dragging luggage. Once your bags are sent ahead to Hoi An, you can pause for an hour or two, and that stretch of road becomes part of the trip rather than just transit.
We call places like this, right beside an airport or a major route yet always skipped, travel enclaves.
8. FAQ
Q1: Can LUGGAGENT deliver from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An? Yes. Da Nang Airport, Da Nang city and Hoi An are all in our service area, and airport to Hoi An is US$40 (2 bags).
Q2: If I land at 10 p.m., can I hand over my bags at the airport? Airport drop-off runs 09:00–18:00, so late-night arrivals aren't suited to same-night drop-off. We suggest carrying your bags to the hotel yourself the first night (the airport to a beachfront hotel is only 15–20 minutes), then using us for the hotel switch and the last day.
Q3: What time will my bags reach the hotel? Hotel delivery can be set for before 21:00, or before 18:00 (extra US$35). For hotel pickups, please hand your bags to the front desk before 11:00.
Q4: How far ahead do I need to book? Vietnam follows the Asia-Pacific booking deadlines: for hotel and airport orders, book by 11:00 at least 1 day before the service date; if the pickup or delivery location is a homestay, book by 11:00 at least 3 days before. Book 30 or more days ahead and you get a 5% early-bird discount on the fee.
Q5: What if I'm staying at a homestay or Airbnb? That's fine, but each end that is a homestay adds US$25, and the booking deadline is earlier (see Q4).
Q6: What if my luggage is lost or damaged? Every bag comes with insurance up to US$500, covering luggage delay and loss; for higher coverage, you can add up to US$3,000 per bag. Cosmetic or non-structural damage such as scratches, dents, wheels and zippers is not covered. Each bag must weigh no more than 32 kg, and length + width + height must not exceed 180 cm.
