Phu Quoc Luggage Guide: Switching Hotels North to South and Late-Night Flights After Checkout
Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island, about 5 hours 20 minutes by air from Incheon, and for many travelers it is their first Vietnamese island trip. It has beaches, a cable car and a night market, but the island is big and has no public transport, so the luggage problem stands out:
- The island is long and narrow: from An Thoi in the south to the Vinpearl area in the north is about 50 km, linked by a single main road.
- Many people switch hotels once: the first few nights in the south at Long Beach or Sunset Town, the last few in a quiet northern bay, which means a ride of an hour or more with your luggage in between.
- The return flight is often a late-night one: according to flight records, Phu Quoc to Incheon flights often depart between 22:25 and 22:45, so after a noon checkout you still have a whole afternoon and evening.
This guide breaks the trip into three moments and shows the easiest way to handle your luggage at each one.
1. Know the island's size first: airport, town, north and south ends
| From | To | Drive time (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Phu Quoc Airport (PQC) | Duong Dong town | 15–35 min |
| Duong Dong town | An Thoi and Sunset Town in the south | 25–40 min |
| Duong Dong town | Vinpearl and VinWonders in the north | 60–90 min |
- The airport is on the west side of the island, about 10 km from Duong Dong town.
- There is no public transport on the island; most people rely on Grab, taxis or rented scooters. A one-way 4-seater ride from the far north or far south often costs more than US$21.
- The south was developed earlier and has more restaurants and services; the north has wide, uncrowded beaches, but the roads are rougher and taxis are scarcer.
Drive times and fares are compiled from several travel sites (checked 2026-10-26). Actual figures depend on the ride-hailing app and the day's traffic.
2. The first night: what to do with luggage when you land in the evening
Bottom line: keep your luggage with you on the first night; no need to send it.
Flights from Incheon often arrive in Phu Quoc around 8–9 pm. LUGGAGENT's airport drop-off window is 09:00–18:00, so an evening arrival isn't suited to same-night drop-off. The airport is not far from hotels around Duong Dong, so taking a ride straight there is the easiest option.
If you land during the day and want to go out before checking in, you can hand your luggage to us at the airport and we will deliver it straight to your hotel.
3. Mid-trip: switching from the south to the north (or the reverse)
This is the most troublesome part of the whole trip. Going between the south and north of Phu Quoc is a long way, and between checking out and being able to check in at the new hotel (usually after 14:00), you still have to find somewhere to pass the time with your luggage.
With LUGGAGENT:
- Before 11:00 in the morning, hand your luggage to the front desk of your current hotel.
- Head out with only a day bag, to the cable car, Sunset Town, or just stay at the beach for half a day longer.
- The luggage is delivered to the new hotel's front desk, so you can check in that evening with your luggage already there.
Price: Phu Quoc (hotel) → Phu Quoc (hotel) US$30 (2 pieces), plus US$11 for each additional piece.
4. The last day: enjoy yourself until a late-night flight after checkout
The upside of a late-night flight is a long last day; the downside is that after a noon checkout there are 8–10 hours before you need to head to the airport.
With LUGGAGENT:
- Hand your luggage to the hotel front desk before 11:00 in the morning.
- The luggage goes straight to Phu Quoc Airport and is handed to you at the time slot you arranged (at least 120 minutes before departure). Airport delivery between 15:00 and 21:00 has no surcharge; after 21:00 is optional but carries a surcharge (from US$5 per 15 minutes, shown on the order page).
- You spend the whole day traveling light: one last beach visit, the night market, the sunset, then pick up your luggage at the airport in the evening and check in.
Price: Phu Quoc (hotel) → Phu Quoc Airport US$30 (2 pieces), plus US$11 for each additional piece.

7. FAQ
Q1: Can LUGGAGENT deliver luggage from Phu Quoc Airport to my hotel? Yes. Both Phu Quoc Airport and Phu Quoc island are within the service area, and airport ↔ island is US$30 (2 pieces).
Q2: If I land at 9 pm, can I hand over my luggage to you at the airport? The airport drop-off window is 09:00–18:00, so evening arrivals aren't suited to same-night drop-off. We suggest taking your luggage to the hotel yourself on the first night, and using us for the hotel switch and for the last day.
Q3: How far ahead do I need to book? Vietnam follows the Asia-Pacific booking deadlines: hotel and airport orders must be booked by 11:00 at least 1 day before the service date; homestays by 11:00 at least 3 days before. Booking 30 or more days ahead gets a 5% early-bird discount on the fare.
Q4: What if I'm staying at a homestay or Airbnb? That works, but each homestay end adds US$25, and the booking deadline is earlier (see Q3).
Q5: What if my luggage is lost or damaged? Every piece comes with insurance of up to US$500, covering luggage delay and loss; for higher coverage, you can add up to US$3,000 per piece. Cosmetic or non-structural damage such as scratches, dents, wheels and zippers is not covered. Each piece must weigh no more than 32 kg, and length + width + height must not exceed 180 cm.
